The Backing Track Exchange

Even as a kid, I could hear the music in my head. These tunes that I wrote in my head, but could only dream of hearing them like the rock and roll songs I heard on the radio. Still, I picked up my trusty acoustic guitar and did my best to get a little closer to the dream. Then, I got a recorder and the dream took flight. At first, I had to play all the instruments and recorded myself on my little four track reel to reel. I guess I’m dating myself, but that was the state of the art in those days. Well, reel to reel gave way to four track cassettes, and then midi sequencing and finally digital audio.
Now, with the digital audio workstation at my fingertips, I’ve found unbridled expression in my favorite art form; multi-track music. Today I still feel passionate about midi and sampling and backing tracks and I’m learning new techniques every day!
I’m happy blending technology with good, old fashioned live play and love it.
